ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In the MR magnetic head of the present invention, its sensing element comprises a plurality of superposed magnetic layers having magnetoresistance effect in at least one of them and a nonmagnetic intermediate layer sandwiched therebetween, and a sensing current is fed to flow in the sensing element in the same direction as a signal magnetic field applied to the element. Each of the magnetic layers is so formed as to have an easy axis of magnetization substantially perpendicular to the signal magnetic field or to have isotropic magnetic characteristic in the magnetic film plane, thereby according generation of Barkhausen noise with certainty.
