ABSTRACT In a machine including a d.c. power supply having an output voltage, and including a d.c. motor having a load connected thereto for driving thereby, there is provided apparatus for controlling the speed of the motor independently of variations in the load. The control apparatus includes the power supply output voltage being a rectified and unfiltered output voltage, a silicon controlled rectifier having an anode and a cathode and a gate, structure for providing a reference voltage to the gate of the rectifier, and structure for connecting the anode and cathode of the rectifier between the power supply and motor for energizing the motor.
