The rules of golf require a player, whose ball is on the putting green, to clearly and accurately mark the position of the golf ball prior to lifting it for cleaning or to remove it from a position where it may interfere with the progress of another players ball. The marker ensures that the ball will be replaced in the exact position from which it was lifted. There are a number of shortcomings associated with the current methods of marking and this invention will provide a method that will overcome these shortcomings.
