Abstract An apparatus intended for facilitating the replacement of an endless press felt or a like web in a paper and board making machine comprises an actuator (8) for lifting a roll (1) which is in contact with a press felt or the like, the actuator being adapted to lower a roll holder (3b) carrying the second end of a roll. The apparatus also comprises a roll supporting means (6), mounted on a sec- tion between roll ends (1a, 1b) and, through the intermediary of a lever (5), pivotably linked to a fixed fulcrum (4) on a base structure. The supporting means (6) is linked by a chain (7) serving as a connect- ing member to the second end (1b, 3b) of the roll. Fig. 1
