An apparatus and method for knitting sliver fabric on a circular sliver knitting machine. An air blowing unit (63) is attached to the machine so as to be oriented radially inward from the knitting cylinder (52) and a card unit (34) so as to blow air radially outwardly toward the needles (54). The air blowing unit (63) blows air along generally horizontal longitudinal path toward the needles (54) so as to turn free ends of the sliver fibres once the medial portions thereof have been knit into the fabric. A modified latched guard (44) cooperates with air blowing unit for guiding free ends of the sliver fibres onto sinkers in a uniform and controlled manner to enable the free ends liver fibres to be knit a second time by the adjacent needles.
Appareil et procédé permettant de produire un tricot à rubans sur un métier à tricoter à rubans circulaire. Un dispositif (63) à jet d'air est fixé à la machine de façon à être orienté radialement vers l'intérieur par rapport au cylindre de tricotage (52) et à un organe de cardage (34), afin de diriger un souffle d'air radialement vers l'extérieur et vers les aiguilles (54). Le dispositif (63) à jet d'air dirige le souffle d'air horizontalement sur un chemin longitudinal vers les aiguilles (54) afin de retourner les extrémités libres des rubans un fois que leurs parties médianes ont été tricotées. Un dispositif de protection modifié et à verrouillage (44) coopère avec le dispositif à jet d'air afin de guider, de manière uniforme et régulée, les extrémités libres des rubans vers des platines, et que lesdites extrémités soient tricotées une deuxième fois par les aiuguilles adjacentes.
