13 ABSTRACT: "Method and apparatus for manufacturing multilayer ceramic capacitors". A method and an apparatus for manufacturing multi- layer ceramic capacitors, in which method an integral assembly 11 consisting of a compressed stack of ceramic layers and electrode layers is subdivided in the green non-sintered state into separate capacitor elements. For this purpose, by means of notching members 29 notches. of a given depth are provided simultaneously on both sides of the assembly 11 in such a manner that spontaneous ruptures are obtained through the remaining thickness of the assembly 11. Due to this method, the contamination of the exposed electrode layers and delamination of the assembly are avoided. Figure 5.
