A method and corresponding apparatus for determining the centroid (Vc) of a waveform signal being sampled at a set of parameter values (Vi, i=1, ..., n) yielding a corresponding set of sampled amplitudes (Ai, i=1, ..., n), each parameter value and corresponding amplitude forming a sampled point (Vi, Ai), the method including the steps of: selecting an amplitude at which to create an interpolated point; interpolating a first parameter value corresponding to the amplitude selected in the step of selecting an amplitude; and performing a centroid calculation using only the sampled points with an amplitude greater than a predetermined threshold. The waveform is sometimes sampled in the presence of background noise, and the method sometimes also includes: estimating the background (Bi) for each value in the set of parameter values at which sampling is performed; and reducing the amplitude (Ai) of each sampled amplitude by the background (Bi) so estimated.
La présente invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif correspondant, permettant la détermination du centroïde (V¿c?) d'un signal oscillographique échantillonné pour un ensemble de valeurs paramètres (V¿i?, i=1, ..., n) pour donner un ensemble correspondant d'amplitudes échantillonnées (A¿i?, i=1, ..., n), chaque valeur paramètre et l'amplitude correspondante formant un point échantillonné (V¿i?, A¿i?). Le procédé comprend les étapes suivantes: sélection d'une amplitude à laquelle doit être créé un point interpolé; interpolation d'une première valeur paramètre correspondant à l'amplitude sélectionnée dans l'étape de sélection d'une amplitude; et calcul du centroïde en se servant uniquement des points échantillonnés ayant une amplitude supérieure à un seuil prédéterminé. Le signal oscillographique est parfois échantillonné en la présence d'un bruit de fond, et le procédé fait également parfois intervenir les étapes suivantes: évaluation du bruit de fond (B¿i?) pour chaque valeur de l'ensemble de valeurs paramètres auxquelles s'effectue l'échantillonnage; et diminution de l'amplitude (A¿i?) de chaque amplitude échantillonnée d'une valeur correspondant au bruit de fond (B¿i?) ainsi évalué.
