ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method is provided for incorporating surface structures into cement fibre slabs, the said slabs being compressed in a batch press while the cement is hardening and being then held in clamping frames, over a long period of time, under pressure, literally "in the compressed condi- tion". According to the present invention, after being stored in the clamping frames, the cement fibre slabs are removed and passed to a calendering unit, the rolls of which comprise surface structures, the said slabs passing between the said rolls and thus acquiring surface structures on one or both sides thereof.
