An integrated method for congestion control uses access regulator to control the admission of information from a communication device into a network according to a predetermined function characterized by a set of parameters. A node within the network sends a signal indicating a level of congestion in the the node to the access regulator, and at least one of the parameters is adjusted in response to the signal. The parameter may additionally be adjusted according to other parameterswhich which are selected according to stability and transient response criteria.

L'invention est une méthode intégrée de contrôle de l'encombrement qui utilise un régulateur d'accès pour contrôler le transfert d'informations d'un dispositif de communication dans un réseau selon une fonction prédéterminée caractérisée par un ensemble de paramètres. Un noeud faisant partie du réseau transmet au régulateur d'accès un signal indiquant son niveau d'encombrement et l'un des paramètres au moins est ajusté en réponse à ce signal. Ce paramètre peut subir un autre ajustement basé sur d'autres paramètres sélectionnés d'après des critères de stabilité et de réponse aux transitoires.
