ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is a method for obtaining a protein concentrate from rape seeds, with removal of noxious and toxic matters of the thioglycoside typo in a water extraction process, and with deoiling - by squeezing snd/or solvent extraction - of disintegrated seeds. Apparatus for carrying out the method is also disclosed. The method is characterized in that prior to the water extraction the whole rape seeds are purified and graded (sorted) into at least two fractions, each of them containing seeds of uniform size. Thereafter each fraction undergoes water extraction complete with inactivation of the mirosinase enzyme in water having a pH-value ranging within the limits from 8.0 up to 9.5, during 30 - 60 minutes at a temperature ranging from 90°C up to 98°C. The wet seeds are then deprived of seed-leaves, the mixture of hull and seed-leaf being subsequently washed in hot water dripped off, dried, and deprived of hull and the not hulled seed if any, and then the purified (cleaned) seed-leaves are subjected to deoiling and disintegration.
