ABSTRACT The present invention concerns the method for preparing electrodes for use in electrochemical processes, said electrodes being constituted by a conductive support whereto an electro- catalytic coating is applied which coating is comprises a metal or metal alloy with particles of electrocatalytic materials dispersed therein. Said coating is obtained by galvanic deposi- tion from a galvanic plating bath containing suspended particles of said electrocatalytic material and further contains additional doping elements belonging to the following groups of the periodic table: I B, II B, III A, IV A, V A; V B, VI A, VI B, VIII. The electrodes obtained by the method of the invention when used as cathodes in membrane or diaphragm chloralkali cells are substantially immune to poisoning by heavy metal impurities pre- sent in the alkaline solutions.
