ABSTRACT A cultivation method and apparatus in which a tank in which marine organisms are cultivated is subjected to aeration thereby generating a vertical convection with respect to water within the tank and the cultivation is carried out while circulating water present in the upper portion and bottom. The tank (1) is constructed by detach- ably placing a water impermeable sheet cover (3) over a frame, and an intake drain hole (4) is opened to the central portion at the lower end bottom thereof. When air is fed through an air pipe (7) into the tank (1), a vertical convection is generated by the raising force of bubbles so that water externally of the tank is introduced into the tank from the intake drain hole (4) while water within the tank is allowed to flow outside the tank, and marine organisms are cultivated while circulating water within the tank with water externally of the tank. Accord- ingly, algaes being cultivated within the tank can be always moved and uniformly exposed to sunlight, salts and nutritious chlorine in the sea bottom and temperature- stabilized sea water can be introduced into the tank, stained sea water within the tank is simultaneously discharged, and improvement and control of the raising environment within the tank can be made. - 36 -
