ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A large-scale industrial method for the production of aminocyanoacetamide is disclosed. The method comprises treating a cyanoacetic acid ester with an alkali nitrite in a first step to form the corresponding hydroxyiminocyanoacetic acid ester. The hydroxy- iminocyanoacetic acid ester is then hydrogenated to form the aminocyanoacetic ester, which is thereafter treated with ammonia to obtain the aminocyanoacetamide final product.
