ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method and an apparatus for the reproducible surface formation during burning of liquid propellant in gun barrels, com- prising the steps of igniting liquid propellant in the charge space, and then pressing the propellant by way of the gas pressure produced thereby through a channel system dissolving the procedure of the surface formation into a plurality of individual steps which operate parallel, simultaneous and in the same manner and transform the propellant completely into the gas phase, and there- after building up the entire gas volume for the further driving of a projectile behind the base of the projectile. -1-
