In a method of establishing a connection in TDMA-based communications systems between a mobile station (CTS-MS), which is in radio communication with a (first) base station (CTS-FP1) of a (first) cordless telephone system (CTS1), and another (second) base station (CTS-FP2) of the same or another (second) cordless telephone system (CTS2), the mobile station (CTS-MS) either attempts to set up a radio link to the second base station (CTS-FP2) on at least a second time slot (TS2) while communicating with the first base station (CTS-FP1) on a first time slot (TS1), or, in order to establish the connection to the second base station (CTS-FP2), uses at least one TDMA frame (f1; f2; f3) of the interleaving scheme if information is transmitted between the mobile station (CTS-MS) and the base station (CTS-FP1, CTS-FP2) in several TDMA frames (f1 to f8) of the first time slot (TS1) according to a given interleaving scheme.
