ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of bonding a solid layer of intumescent material carried by a support to a second sheet of material in surface-to-surface contact to form a light-transmitting laminate, wherein the sheet and layer are combined to form the laminate after wetting at least one of the surfaces which are to be brought into contact with an inorganic solvent for the intumescent material so that such solvent is present at the time of such contact.
