The present invention provides a method for producing a perform (1) for a holey optical fibre including thermomechanically forming the preform from a unitary body of optically suitable material (20) so that one or more discrete optical elements (30), such as air holes, are formed therein. Each element (30) has a refractive index which is different from the refractive index of the optically suitable material (20). The thermomechanical formation is preferably conducted by extrusion or by injection molding. In a preferred embodiment, the unitary body is a fluid. The method is suitable for production of a preform for a polymer holey optical fibre or an inorganic glass holey optical fibre.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de production d'une préforme (1) destinée à la fabrication d'une fibre optique perforée. Ce procédé comprend l'étape consistant à former thermomécaniquement la préforme à partir d'un corps monobloc d'un matériau (20) optiquement adapté, de telle sorte qu'au moins un élément optique (30) discret telle qu'une soufflure soit formé dans cette préforme. Chaque élément optique (30) présente un indice de réfraction qui est différent de celui du matériau (20) optiquement adapté. Cette mise en forme thermomécanique est de préférence réalisée par extrusion ou par moulage par injection. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, le corps monobloc est fluide. Ce procédé peut être mis en oeuvre pour la production d'une préforme destinée à la formation d'une fibre optique perforée en polymère ou d'une fibre optique perforée en verre inorganique.
