ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method is disclosed for removal of dissolved and colloidal material from the circulation water of a paper mill. Chemical pulp, which has been acidified to a pH of 1.5-2.5, or fiber sludge recovered from a paper manufacturing process is mixed with the circulation water of the paper manufacturing process. Thus, the acid pulp or fiber sludge precipitates dissolved and colloidal substances in the circulation water. The method provides an efficient reduction of the volume of dissolved and colloidal substances in the circulation water. The reduction is in 30-50% bracket. Accordingly, the capital and operation costs of the method are reduced.
