Methods and apparatus for measuring an electromagnetic radiation response property associated with a substrate (210) and calibrating an electromagnetic measurement device (100) are disclosed. The methods and apparatus generate electromagnetic waves and capture a portion of the generated waves after the waves pass through a first polarized filter (236), reflect from a substrate (210), and pass through a second polarized filter (204) arranged in a cross polar arrangement with respect to the first polarized filter. In addition, the apparatus captures electromagnetic waves that pass through an attenuating filter (206) and reflect from one or more calibration standards (208). Digital data is determined from the captured electromagnetic waves. The digital data is used to recalibrate the apparatus.
L'invention concerne des procédés et un appareil permettant de mesurer une propriété de réponse de rayonnement électromagnétique associée à un substrat (210) et de calibrer un dispositif de mesure électromagnétique (100). Les procédés et appareil de cette invention permettent de générer des ondes électromagnétiques et de capturer une partie des ondes générées après leur passage à travers un premier filtre polarisé (236), leur réflexion à partir d'un substrat (210), et leur passage à travers un second filtre polarisé (204) disposé selon un arrangement de polarisation croisée par rapport au premier filtre polarisé. En outre, l'appareil de cette invention capture des ondes électromagnétiques qui passent à travers un filtre d'atténuation (206) et se réfléchissent à partir d'un ou plusieurs standards de calibrage (208). Des données numériques sont déterminées à partir des ondes électromagnétiques capturées. Ces données numériques sont utilisées pour calibrer une nouvelle fois l'appareil.
