The present invention is directed to an implantable drug depot useful for reducing, preventing or treating post-operative pain in a patient in need of such treat-ment, the implantable drug depot comprising a polymer and a therapeutically effective amount of a local anesthetic or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein the drug depot is implantable at a site beneath the skin to reduce, prevent or treat post-op-erative pain, and the drug depot is capable of releasing (i) a bolus dose of the local anesthetic or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof at a site beneath the skin and (ii) a sustained release dose of an effective amount of the local anesthetic or pharmaceuti-cally acceptable salt thereof over a period of at least 4 days.

La présente invention concerne une forme retard implantable, utile pour réduire, prévenir ou traiter la douleur post-opératoire chez un patient qui a besoin dun tel traitement, la forme retard implantable comportant un polymère et une quantité efficace du point de vue thérapeutique dun anesthésique local ou dun sel de qualité pharmaceutique de celui-ci, la forme retard étant implantable au niveau dun site sous la peau pour réduire, prévenir ou traiter la douleur postopératoire, et la forme retard étant capable de libérer (i) une dose de bolus de lanesthétique local ou du sel de qualité pharmaceutique de celui-ci au niveau dun site sous la peau et (ii) une dose à libération prolongée dune quantité efficace de lanesthésique local ou du sel de qualité pharmaceutique de celui-ci sur une période dau moins 4 jours.
