A method for insolubilizing and stabilizing a heavy metal contained in a waste, which comprises melt-kneading the waste (A) containing a heavy metal together with an alkali metal compound or alkaline earth metal compound (B) and either sulfur (C) or a sulfide (D) optionally further with a metal salt (E) which has a higher standard electrode potential than those of cations of ingredient (B) or (E) in the presence of a nonaqueous medium, and then cooling the melt to solidify it. Thus, the heavy metal contained in the waste can be efficiently immobilized and prevented from dissolving out.
Un procédé destiné à insolubiliser et à stabiliser un métal lourd contenu dans des déchets consiste à malaxer à chaud les déchets (A) contenant un métal lourd avec un composé métallique alcalin ou un composé (B) métallique alcalino-terreux et soit du soufre (C) soit un sulfure (D) facultativement, à nouveau avec un sel métallique (E) ayant un potentiel d'électrode standard supérieur à celui de cations des ingrédients (B) ou (E) en présence d'un milieu non aqueux, et ensuite à refroidir le bain de fusion afin de le solidifier. Ainsi, le métal lourd contenu dans les déchets peut être immobilisé efficacement et on peut empêcher sa dissolution.
