The invention relates to a poisoned modified polymer of the poly(ethynylene phenylene ethynylene silylene) type, which can be obtained by the selective addition of a compound with a single reactive function to the acetylenic bonds of a poly(ethynylene phenylene ethynylene silylene) polymer. The invention also relates to compositions containing the aforementioned modified polymers and to a method of preparing said modified polymers. In addition, the invention relates to novel self-poisoned poly(ethynylene phenylene ethynylene silylene)-type polymers. The invention further relates to the cured products that can be obtained from the heat treatment of said self-poisoned or modified polymers. According to the invention, the polymers and cured products have improved mechanical properties while retaining excellent thermal properties.

Polymère modifié, empoisonné, de type poly(éthynylène phénylène éthynylène silylène) susceptible d'être obtenu par addition sélective d'un composé à unique fonction réactive sur les liaisons acétyléniques d'un polymère de poly(éthynylène phénylène éthynylène silylène). Compositions contenant ces polymères modifiés. Procédé de préparation de ces polymères modifiés. Nouveaux polymères de type poly(éthynylène-phénylène-éthynylène-silylène) auto- empoisonnés. Produits durcis susceptibles d'être obtenus par traitement thermique desdits polymères modifiés ou auto-empoisonnés. Les polymères et produits durcis présentent des propriétés mécaniques améliorées tout en conservant d'excellentes propriétés thermiques.
