DNA Molecule encoding mutant forms of bone morphogenetic proteins (BMP) are disclosed. The mutant forms of BMP can be produced bacterially and refolded to produce biologically active homodimers or heterodimers of BMP. A method of making such mutant BMPs is also disclosed.
