A photovoltaic device is provided. It comprises at least two electrical contacts, p type dopants and n type dopants. It also comprises a bulk region and nanowires in an aligned array which contact the bulk region. All nanowires in the array have one predominant type of dopant, n or p, and at least a portion of the bulk region also comprises that predominant type of dopant. The portion of the bulk region comprising the predominant type of dopant typically contacts the nanowire array. The photovoltaic devices' p-n junction would then be found in the bulk region. The photovoltaic devices would commonly comprise silicon.

L'invention concerne un dispositif photovoltaïque comprenant au moins deux contacts électriques, des dopants du type p et des dopants du type n. Ce dispositif comprend également une région de substrat et des nanofils en réseau aligné qui sont en contact avec la région de substrat. Tous les nanofils du réseau comportent un type prédominant de dopant, n ou p, et au moins une partie de la région de substrat comprend également ce type prédominant de dopant. En règle générale, la partie de la région de substrat comprenant le type prédominant de dopant est en contact avec le réseau de nanofils. La jonction p-n de dispositifs photovoltaïques se situerait alors dans la région de substrat. Les dispositifs photovoltaïques comprendraient généralement du silicium.
