It is described biologically pure bacterial cultures of mutant strains of Pseudomonas fluorescens, which produces large amounts of alginate. The alginate may contain a certain determined content of mannuronate and guluronate residues, possible presence and determined level of acetyl groups in the alginate, and a desired molecular weight of the alginate. Also high yielding mutants with regulation of alginate production, is described. The invention further provides methods for producing new mutant strains of Pseudomonas fluorescens and variants thereof, and use of the resulting strains in alginate production.
L'invention concerne des cultures bactériennes pures sur le plan biologique de souches de mutants de <i>Pseudomonas fluorescens</i>, produisant des quantités importantes d'alginate. L'alginate peut renfermer une certaine teneur déterminée en résidus de mannuronate et guluronate, une présence possible et un niveau déterminé de groupes acétyle et il peut posséder un poids moléculaire souhaité. L'invention concerne également des mutants à rendement élevé avec régulation de la production d'alginate, ainsi que des procédés de production de nouvelles souches de mutants de <i>Pseudomonas fluorescens</i> et des variants de celles-ci, ainsi qu'une utilisation des souches obtenues dans la production d'alginate.
