ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Pressure sensitive bituminous adhesives are provided which comprise bitumen, oil, an elastomer, and silica. These adhesives are particularly useful as self adherent waterproofing layers, particularly in roofing applications. The presence of silica increases the sag resistance of the adhesives, preventing adhesive from flowing or dripping from the waterproofing layer at the relatively high temperatures encountered in roofing applications. Also provided are waterproofing membranes comprising the inventive adhesive compositions.
