This invention is directed to a non-toxic fire extinguishant. More particularly, this invention relates to a fire extinguishant which extinguishes fires without generating toxic gases or compounds. A non- toxic fire extinguishant comprising in combination: a) a fluorochlorocarbon selected from the group consisting of trichlorofluoromethane, dichlorodifluoromethane, 1,2-dichlorote- trafluoroethane, chlorodifluoromethane, 1;1-dichloro-2,2,2; trifluoroethane, 1- chloro-1;2,2,2-tetrafluoroethane, pentafluoroethane; 1,2-dichloro-2,2-difluoroethane, 1;2,2,2-tetrafluoroethane and b) a substance selected from the group consisting of Terpenes: Citral, Citronellal, Citronellol, Limonene, Dipentene; Menthol, Terpinene; Terpinolene, Sylvestrene; Sabinene, Menthadiene; Zingiberene, Ocimene; Myrcene, .alpha.-Pinene, .beta.-Pinene, Turpentine, Camphor, Phytal, Vitamin A, Abietic Acid, Squalene, Lanosterol, Saponin, Oleanolic Acid, Lycopene; .beta.-Carotene, Lutein; .alpha.-Terpineol; p-Cymene; and unsaturated oils: Oleic Acid, Linoleic Acid, Linolenic Acid, Eleostearic Acid; Lincanic Acid, Ricinoleic Acid, Palmitoleic Acid, Petroselenic Acid, Vaccenic Acid, Erucic Acid.
On décrit un agent extincteur non toxique, et plus spécialement un agent extincteur qui éteint les incendies sans générer de gaz ni de composés toxiques. L'agent extincteur non toxique comporte en combinaison a) un fluorochlorocarbone sélectionné dans le groupe constitué de trichlorofluorométhane, dichlorodifluorométhane, dichlorotétrafluoroétahen-1,2, chlorodifluorométhane, dichloro-1,1-trifluoroéthane-2,2,2, chloro-1-tétrafluoroéthane-1,2,2,2, pentafluoroéthane, dichloro-1,2-difluoroéthane-2,2, et tétrafluoroéthane-1,2,2,2; ainsi que b) une substance sélectionnée dans le groupe constitué de terpènes: citral, citronellal, citronellol, d-limonène, dipentène, menthol, terpinène, terpinolène, sylvestrène, sabinène, menthadiène, zingiberène, ocimène, myrcène, pinène-alpha, pinène-beta, gemme, camphre, phytol, vitamine A, acide abiétique, squalène, lanostérol, saponine, acide oléanolique, lycopène, carotène-beta, lutéine, terpinéol-alpha, cymène (para); et des huiles insaturées: acide oléique, acide linoléique, acide linolénique, acide éléostéarique, acide lincanique, acide ricinoléique, acide palmito-oléique, acide pétrosélénique, acide vaccénique, et acide érucique.
