An oligonucleotide encoding a gene which is capable of regulating the synthesis of abscisic acid and encoding an amino acid sequence consisting of from M at the 1-position to I at the 164-position of the amino acids in the sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:2 in Sequence Listing, or oligonucleotides containing an oligonucleotide encoding an amino acid sequence derived from the above-described amino acid sequence by deletion, substitution or addition of one or several amino acids; products of these oligonucleotides; and vectors and plants containing these oligonucleotides.
