A novel mechanical stimulus-responsive channel protein originating in mouse or humans which is expressed specifically in the kidney and has a function of non- selectively incorporating cation into cells respondent to a mechanical stimulus; a DNA encoding this protein; a method of screening a cation channel activity enhancer or inhibitor with the use of this protein; and an antibody against this protein. The above-described protein is useful as a diagnostic or a remedy for diseases based on abnormalities in the cation channel such as hypertension or diabetes or as a tool for searching for preventives and/or remedies for these diseases.
L'invention porte: sur une nouvelle protéine-canal murine ou humaine, réagissant à un stimulus mécanique, exprimée spécifiquement par le rein, et présentant une fonction d'incorporation non sélective de cations dans des cellules en réponse à un stimulus mécanique; sur l'ADN codant pour ladite protéine-canal; sur un procédé de criblage d'un renforceur ou d'un inhibiteur de l'activité du canal cationique recourant à ladite protéine; et sur un anticorps de cette protéine. Ladite protéine peut servir à diagnostiquer ou traiter des maladies dues à des anomalies du canal cationique telles que l'hypertension ou le diabète, ou d'outil de recherche d'agents préventifs et/ou curatifs de ces maladies.
