Novel tricyclic N-cyanoimine compound and pharmaceutical compositions are disclosed which are inhibitors of the enzyme farnesyl-protein transferase. On décrit des composés et compositions pharmaceutiques nouveaux à base de N-cyano-imine tricyclique, lesquels constituent des inhibiteurs de l'enzyme farnésyle transférase. On décrit également un procédé d'inhibition de la fonction Ras et donc d'inhibition de la croissance anormale des cellules. Ce procédé consiste à administrer le nouveau composé de N-cyano-imine tricyclique à un système biologique, et il sert notamment à inhiber la croissance anormale des cellules chez un mammifère tel que l'homme.
