An object selective video analysis and recordation system in which one or more video cameras provide video output to be recorded in a useful form on recording media with reduction of the amount of the recording media, with preservation of intelligence content of the output. Video output is both background video and object video, (Fig. 1), an images of objects appearing against a background scene. Preset knowledge of symbolic categories of objects in the scene and analysis of object attributes is provided by the system. Spatial resolution and temporal resolution of objects in the scene are automatically varied in accordance with preset criteria based on predetermined interest in the object attributes while recording the background video and object video.

L'invention concerne un système d'enregistrement et d'analyse d'une vidéo à objet sélectif dans lequel une ou plusieurs caméras vidéo fournissent une sortie vidéo à enregistrer sous une forme utile sur un support d'enregistrement dont on peut réduire la quantité, tout en conservant le contenu d'intelligence de la sortie. La sortie vidéo est à la fois une vidéo de fond et objet (fig. 1), et des images des objets apparaissent sur la scène de fond. La connaissance prédéfinie de catégories symboliques d'objets sur la scène et l'analyse d'attributs objets sont assurées par le système. On peut varier automatiquement les résolutions spatiale et temporelle des objets sur la scène d'après les critères prédéfinis selon l'intérêt prédéterminé des attributs objets, tout en enregistrant la vidéo de fond et objet.
