A system notifies a first user of a mobile communication device about status of other users in a mobile communications system. The system sends a signal from the mobile communication device to a service node in the mobile communications system. At the service node, a list is determined indicating to other users that the first user wants to know the status of. The status of each of the other users on the list is then determined, and transmitted from the service node to the mobile communication device. The signal from the mobile communication device to the service node may be generated in response to the mobile communication device being powered on, and may itself include an indication that the mobile communication device has been powered on. Upon receipt of this indication, the service node may determine other lists in which the first user is listed, determine a corresponding other user for each of the other lists, and send a notification to each of the corresponding other users indicating that the first user has gone on-line. Users of communication devices may thereby be informed of updated status of other users they are interested in. Other types of status include indications of going off- line, present location, and whether a given user is associated with voicemail and/or e-mail services. The service node maybe home location register.
Un système informe un premier utilisateur d'un dispositif de communication mobile sur l'état d'autres utilisateurs du système de communication mobile. Le système envoie un signal du dispositif de communication mobile vers un noeud de service du système de communication mobile. Au niveau du noeud de service, une liste est déterminée indiquant les autres utilisateurs dont le premier utilisateur veut connaître les états. L'état de chacun des autres utilisateurs de la liste est ensuite déterminé et envoyé du noeud de service au dispositif de communication mobile. Le signal envoyé du dispositif de communication mobile au noeud de service peut être généré en réaction à la mise sous tension du dispositif de communication mobile et peut lui-même comporter l'indication que le dispositif de communication mobile a été mis sous tension. En recevant cette indication, le noeud de service peut: - déterminer d'autres listes dans lesquelles figure le premier utilisateur, - déterminer un autre utilisateur correspondant pour chacune des autres listes et - envoyer une notification à chacun des autres utilisateurs correspondants indiquant que le premier utilisateur a été mis en ligne. Les utilisateurs des dispositifs de communication peuvent ainsi être informés de l'état actualisé des autres utilisateurs auxquels ils s'intéressent. D'autres types d'états comportent les indications de mise hors ligne, de localisation actuelle et des indications précisant si un utilisateur donné est associé aux services de messagerie téléphonique et/ou de courrier électronique. Le noeud de service peut être un registre de localisation nominal.
