The manufacturing process for an optical-fiber preform (10) includes an external plasma deposition stage. The external plasma deposition stage is followed by a hot isostatic pressing stage, in which the preform is placed in an oven (22). This additional stage, which involves processing by hot isostatic pressing, prevents the formation of gas inclusions in the preform as a result of rapid plasma deposition. This invention constitutes a procedure which will reduce the time required for the manufacture of a preform free of gas inclusions.

Le procédé de fabrication d'une préforme (10) de fibre optique comprend une étape de dépôt externe par plasma. L'étape de dépôt externe par plasma est suivie d'une étape de traitement de la préforme par compactage isostatique à chaud dans un four (22). Cette étape supplémentaire de traitement par compactage isostatique à chaud permet d'éliminer les inclusions de gaz formées dans la préforme à cause d'une vitesse de dépôt par plasma élevée. Le procédé selon l'invention permet de réduire le temps de fabrication d'une préforme exempte d'inclusions de gaz.
