ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Treatment of boronic esters of very high optical purity with alkali metal aluminum hydride and treatment of boronic esters of very high optical purity with alkali metal monoalkoxyaluminohydride provides novel, quantitative synthesis of novel alkali metal monoorganyl- and diorganylborohydrides containing boron directly attached to the asymmetric center or centers of essentially 100% optical purity. These optically active mono- and diorganylborohydrides provides new, useful optically active reducing agents and convenient sources for optically active mono- and diorganylboranes.
