The present invention relates to an aqueous oral composition comprising: a) from 0.2% to 3% divalent metal ions comprising: i. from 0.1% to 1.5% of zinc ions; ii. from 0.1% to 2% of tin (II) ions; and b) a source of fluoride ions; c) a silica dental abrasive; d) one or more chelants having a MW of less than 1000 and capable of forming water-soluble complexes with the zinc ions, wherein the chelants comprise less than 0.2% linear polyphosphates having a chain length of four or more; e) an orally acceptable carrier comprising at least 20% total water; wherein the pH of the composition is from 5 to 6.5, the molar ratio of the chelants to the divalent metal ions is at least 0.70: 1 and at least 80% by weight of the total zinc ions are solubilised within the composition. The composition of the invention has been found to give improved antimicrobial activity from the zinc / stannous combination without significant taste, staining or stability problems, compared to compositions having lower levels of chelants.
La présente invention concerne une composition orale aqueuse qui comprend: a) entre 0,2% et 3% d'ions métalliques divalents contenant: i) entre 0,1% et 1,5% d'ions de zinc, ii) entre 0,1% et 2% d'ions d'étain (II); b) une source d'ions fluorure; c) un abrasif dentaire à base de silice; d) un ou plusieurs chélateurs de poids moléculaire infférieur à 1000 et pouvant former avec les ions de zinc des complexes solubles dans l'eau, lesdits chélateurs contenant moins de 0,2% de polyphosphates linéaires dont la longueur de la chaîne est d'au moins quatre; et e) un support oralement acceptable contenant au moins 20% de la totalité de l'eau. Le pH de la composition est compris entre 5 et 6,5; le rapport molaire des chélateurs aux ions métalliques divalents est d'au moins 0,70: 1; et au moins 80% en poids de la totalité des ions de zinc sont solubles dans la composition. La composition de l'invention présente une activité antimicrobienne améliorée dans sa combinaison zinc-étain, ne présente pas de goût prononcé ni de problèmes tachage ou de stabilité par comparaison avec des compositions comportant des taux de chélateurs inférieurs.
