The invention describes an improved method of flushing spent X-Ray developing fluid down the drain. The filter includes an input for continual water flow and another input for the developing fluid to drip into. The water and the spent X-Ray developing fluid are mixed in the primary filter at a ratio of at least 20 parts water to 1 part spent X-ray developing fluid. The slurry is then forced through the primary and secondary filters containing steel wool to attract some of the hydroquinone out of the slurry. The remaining hydroquinone in the slurry is then flushed down the drain. The filter unit is pressurized to maintain a constant flow of slurry down the drain. The constant flow of slurry will suspend the hydroquinone from crystallizing to the pipes.
