This invention involves a novel paint formulation which acts as a carrier for heavy metal reactive chemicals so that when this novel paint is applied to a heavy metal painted surface and both are subsequently, removed, the heavy metal paint waste is rendered nonhazardous under the TCLP test. Specifically, this paint carrier has a lead-reactive additive thereby rendering lead-paint waste nonhazardous upon removal.

L'invention concerne une nouvelle formulation de peinture qui sert de support pour les produits chimiques réagissant aux métaux lourds, de façon que quand on l'applique sur une surface peinte avec une peinture contenant des métaux lourds et qu'on enlève ensuite les deux peintures, les résidus de peinture contenant des métaux lourds ne sont plus dangereux d'après le test TCLP (extraction par lixiviation des composants toxiques). Spécifiquement, ce support de peinture comporte un additif réagissant au plomb, ce qui rend les résidus de peinture au plomb non toxiques après décapage.
