A pavement cutting machine (30) having a rotary cutting wheel (34) which is controlled by a clutch (32) on either the drive shaft (92) of the engine or a driven shaft (84) of the cutting wheel (34) with activation by a deadman's switch (36). The machine (30) also includes a stand (40) that enables the entire machine (30) to be tipped forwardly about its support wheels (44) to expose the cutting wheel (34) so it can be serviced. The clutch (32) preferably is an electromagnetic clutch mounted to the engine drive shaft (92) that is selectively energized by a deadman's switch (36) on a handle (46) of the machine (30) that is constructed and arranged to close upon an operator (48) gripping handle grips (120) of the handle (46). When energized or engaged, a pulley (86) of the clutch (32) rotates in unison with the drive shaft (92). When the handle grips (120) are released, the clutch (32) is deenergized or disengaged, decoupling the cutting wheel (34) from the engine (90).
L'invention concerne une machine (30) utilisée pour le découpage d'une chaussée, présentant une roue de découpage rotative (34) qui est commandée par un embrayage (32) placé soit sur l'arbre d'entraînement (92) du moteur, soit sur l'arbre entraîné (84) de la roue de découpage (34), ledit embrayage étant actionné par un commutateur homme mort (36). La machine (30) selon l'invention comprend également un pied (40) qui permet de faire basculer la machine (30) complète vers l'avant, autour de ses roues de support (44) pour mettre à découvert la roue de découpage (34) et permettre son entretien. L'embrayage (32) est de préférence un embrayage électromagnétique monté sur l'arbre d'entraînement (92) du moteur, qui est activé de façon sélective par un commutateur homme mort (36) placé sur un organe de direction (46) de la machine (30), lequel est conçu et disposé de façon à se fermer lorsqu'un utilisateur (48) saisit les poignées (120) de l'organe de direction (46). Lorsque l'embrayage est activé ou engagé, une poulie (86) de l'embrayage (32) tourne de façon coordonnée avec l'arbre d'entraînement (92). Lorsque les poignées (120) de l'organe de direction sont relâchées, l'embrayage (32) est désactivé ou désengagé, la roue de découpage (34) étant ainsi désaccouplée du moteur (90).
