PHN. 9593 16 ABSTRACT: A cathode ray tube suitable for use in a measuring instrument, e.g. an oscilloscope, the tube comprising, in an evacuated envelope, at least one electron gun to generate an electron beam to be directed onto a target and, taken in the forward direction of the electron beam, a first pair of deflection plates and a second pair of deflection plates for deflecting the electron beam in two mutually perpendicular directions. Various defects in the displayed image can be corrected by providing at least one ring of a half hard magnetic material which is magnetized permanently as a multi- pole in situ, at least between the first pair of deflection plates and the target.
