ABSTRACT A controlled release composition comprising spheroid cores consisting of diltiazem or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and optionally a spheronising agent, said cores being coated with a controlled release layer. The spheronising agent when present is preferably microcrystalline cellulose. Ethylcellulose is a preferred controlled release coating. The controlled release coating preferably contains a plasticiser, a surfactant and a tack-modifier.
