ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION An acidizing additive to be added to an oil well acidizing solution comprising a mixture of a high molecular weight substantially water insoluble alcohol (e.g. isooctyl alcohol), an effective amount of a phosphate ester surfactant (e.g. Klearfax* AA-270), to render the alcohol acid soluble, and a low molecular weight alcohol or diol with water diluent. Such an additive can be easily delivered and mixed with an acid solution in the field to produce an acidizing medium of superior oil dispersion characteristics.
