Abstract The present invention relates to the new thielocin derivatives, which exhibit phospholipase A2 inhibitory activity of the formula: Image wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, and R8 are independently hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, hydroxy, or halogen; E1 and E2 are independently hydrogen, or an ester residue; m and n are independently an integer of 0 to 4; -Y- is a bivalent group which is selected from the group consisiting of the following radicals: -CH2CH2- , -CH=CH- , Image , Image , Image , Image , Image or Image ; or the salts thereof.
