The modifications to the computer consist of placing piezoelectric patches behind the LCD and directly to the back wall of the laptop lid. Damping material and stiffeners are also added to the back wall to reduce structural resonance. A system consisting of an audio amplifier (5) and transformer (6) is used to drive the piezo speaker (7).
L'invention concerne plusieurs applications d'un équipement piézo-électrique permettant de produire des haut-parleurs de qualité, avec un degré de qualité sonore élevé, dans des cas où des haut-parleurs dynamiques excités par une bobine sont difficiles voire impossibles à installer. Elle se rapporte à une série de modifications apportées à un ordinateur portatif tel qu'un IBM 750c. Ces modifications consistent à placer des connexions piézo-électriques derrière l'écran à cristaux liquides, et directement sur la paroi arrière du couvercle dudit ordinateur, à ajouter des matériaux d'amortissement et des raidisseurs sur la paroi arrière de sorte que la résonance de la structure soit réduite, un système constitué d'un amplificateur audio et un transformateur basse fréquence étant utilisés pour exciter le haut-parleur piézo-électrique.
