The invention relates to the use of piperazine compounds of formula (I) or the agriculturally useful salts of piperazine compounds of formula (I) as herbicides, the variables in formula (I) being defined as cited in the claims and the description. The invention also relates to agents containing piperazine compounds of formula (I) or the agriculturally useful salts of (I), in addition to conventional auxiliary agents used to formulate agricultural pesticides and to a method for producing said agents. The invention further relates to specific piperazine compounds of formula (I), to a method for producing piperazine compounds of formula (I) and to a method for controlling undesirable plant growth, according to which plants, the seeds thereof and/or their cultivation area are treated with at least one piperazine compound of formula (I).
