Title: "A PISTON-OPERATED MACHINE" ABSTRACT A piston-operated machine has a central crank (14) with its axis oblique to a crank shaft (13), on which is mounted a wobble plate (183 which is not rotatable relative to the housing (10), so that any point on the periphery of the wobble plate undergoes an elongated figure- eight path. A cluster of cylinders (11) are provided around each end of the housing (10) with their axes paralle to the axis of the crank shaft (13). Piston rods (20), having pistons (19) slidably received in the cylinders (11), are rotatably, but not longitudinally, mounted in compensator plates rotatably mounted in plates skewed relative to the wobble plate (18), the axes of the compensator plates being parallel to the axis of the crank shaft (13). As the crank shaft (13) rotates, the wobble plate (18) operates the piston rods (20) to reciprocally move the pistons (19) in the cylinders (11).
