Polymer blends, in particular polyphenylene ether-polyamide blends, are effectively compatibilized by incorporating under blending conditions certain oligomers, cooligomers, polymers and copolymers of narrow molecular weight distribution that are prepared under free radical polymerization conditions with glycidyl- functionalized nitroxyl initiators. The oligomers, cooligomers, polymers and copolymers contain at least one oxyamine group and at least one glycidyl-containing initiator group. The polymer blends have excellent mechanical properties.

Des mélanges polymères, notamment des mélanges de polyéthylène éther-polymamide, sont compatibilisés efficacement par introduction, dans des conditions de mélanges, de certains oligomères, co-oligomères, polymères et copolymères à répartition étroite de masse moléculaire, lesquels sont préparés dans des conditions de polymérisation radicalaire avec des initiateurs nitroxyle à fonctionnalisation glycidyle. Les oligomères, co-oligomères, polymères et copolymères contiennent au moins un groupe oxyamine et au moins un groupe initiateur contenant du glycidyle. Les mélanges polymères présentent d'excellentes propriétés mécaniques.
