An optical fiber comprises a core coated with a cladding having a lower refractive index than the core, the cladding composition comprising a fluorinated monoacrylate, a polyfunctional cross-linking acrylate being difunctional or higher, a photoinitiator, and optionally at least one of a thermal stabilizer and antioxidant, the composition comprising lees than 0.3% by weight of a mono- or polyfunctional thiol and being cured or cross-linked. Optical fibers are used as a means of transmitting data.
