Abstract A novel PVF2 film and a process for making it are disclosed. The film has superior dielectric con- stants that were available prior to this invention only in beta phase PVF2 film. Such film is particularly useful to make high energy density capacitors that have particular utility in flash apparatus for cameras. The preferred process of the invention features stretching the PVF2 film while in a molten condition, by an amount that is effective to reduce the film thick- ness to a value no greater than about 1/50th the orig- inal thickness.
