An angular offset sensing device includes an optical encoder having a light generating element and a light sensor. An armature includes a reflective surface having a generally semicircular shape and a spectrum of color disposed thereon varying from a first end of the surface to a second end of the surface. A housing encloses both the optical encoder and the armature and rotationally supports the armature. An electrical voltage is generated when light from the light generating element is reflected back to the sensor from the reflective surface. The voltage is proportional to a wavelength of the reflected light and is indicative of an angular rotation of the armature relative to the optical encoder. The voltage is corrected for linearity and used for example to signal a vehicle transfer case shift.
L'invention porte sur un dispositif de détection de décalage angulaire comprenant un codeur optique possédant un élément de génération de lumière et un détecteur de lumière. Une armature comprend une surface réfléchissante présentant une forme généralement semi-circulaire et un spectre de couleur disposé dessus qui varie d'une première extrémité de la surface vers une seconde extrémité de la surface. Un logement renferme à la fois le codeur optique et l'armature et soutient par rotation l'armature. Une tension électrique est générée lorsque la lumière issue de l'élément de génération de lumière est réfléchi vers le détecteur à partir de la surface réfléchissante. Cette tension est proportionnelle à une longueur d'ondes de la lumière réfléchie et indique une rotation angulaire de l'armature par rapport au codeur optique. Cette tension est corrigée de manière à être linéaire et sert, par exemple, à signaler un décalage de la boîte de transfert d'un véhicule.
