A process for the preparation of amorphous aluminum phosphate or polyphosphate-based pigment by reacting aluminum phosphate and sodium aluminate is provided. The amorphous aluminum phosphate or polyphosphate is characterized by a skeletal density of less than 2.50 grams per cubic centimeter and a phosphorus to aluminum mole ratio of greater than 1. In one embodiment, the composition is useful in paints as a substitute for titanium dioxide.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de préparation de pigment à base de phosphate, ou de polyphosphate, d'aluminium amorphe par la mise en réaction de phosphate d'aluminium avec de l'aluminate de sodium. Le phosphate, ou le polyphosphate, d'aluminium amorphe est caractérisé par une densité squelettique inférieure à 2,50 grammes par centimètre cube et par un rapport molaire de phosphore à l'aluminium supérieur à 1. Dans un mode de réalisation, la composition se révèle utile pour les peintures en tant que substitut du dioxyde de titane.
